Good News For Students who were unable to participate in CUET 2023 Exam

Good News For Students who were unable to participate in CUET 2023 Exam will have the chance to enroll in the subjects and colleges of their choice: Deputy Chief Secretary
The government has announced that students who were unable to participate in the recently held Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2023 due to the allocation of examination centres in far-off towns and cities will have the chance to enroll in the courses and colleges of their choice in these far-off towns and cities.

Official Confirmation

Alok Kumar, the principal secretary for education, explained this information by stating that, in accordance with NEP 2020, the CUET is a standardized entrance test administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) with the goal of streamlining the admissions process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses provided by Universities across the nation. This test will evaluate each applicant’s knowledge, aptitude, and skills, giving each a fair and equal chance to be evaluated. More than 200 universities took part in the CUET the previous year, including 47 core universities.

The procedure will allow J&K students the chance to enrol in top universities and colleges throughout the nation. Following the principles set forth in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Government’s commitment to inclusivity, the Higher Education Department of J&K has made significant efforts to introduce the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the academic session 2023. For the CUET (UG) 2023, a total of 87309 (Eighty-seven thousand three hundred nine) distinct applicants have registered from the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The National Testing Agency published the exam dates and randomly assigned the test centres based on the availability of necessary infrastructure within the bounds of J&K. But other students received centres outside of the UT.

Following the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, NTA deferred the CUET (UG) examination for the students of J&K, implemented a centre reallocation process exclusively for J&K students, and announced new dates for the examination. This was done in recognition of the peculiar situation and resentment against it at the time of the scheduled G-20 event in Kashmir. Furthermore, the department quickly created the necessary infrastructure in order to lessen the travel and logistical difficulties students would have when taking the CUET (UG) 2023 exam in locations outside the UT of J&K. The department has learned following a thorough investigation that some students from the Jammu division were still assigned centres outside the UT of J&K following the reallocation of centres.

Allaying the fears of students community in this regard, Principal Secretary HED assured that
sufficient opportunity would be given to such candidates for admission in the under graduate
programmes in various Degree Colleges of the UT based on their merit in the 12th class examination.
