Check Last Date for All Ration Cards holders

All holders of ration cards in Kashmir have received a reminder from the Director of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) asking them to finish the Electronic Know Your Customer (EKYC) process by the end of February. This action is a part of the continuous effort to link ration cards and Aadhar cards in order to ensure correct beneficiary authentication.

Verification process

According to a department official, the verification process has started and is in line with Aadhar KYC protocols for family member verification within households. According to him, the program also involves updating beneficiary information based on Aadhar card facts by eliminating deceased beneficiaries from ration cards.

Previously, only the head of the family or the spouse’s EKYC was required. However, the new mandate necessitates all members of the ration card to provide and verify their Aadhaar numbers with the civil supplies department.

The government’s regulation highlights the requirement for all family members of ration cardholders to have their Aadhaar linked and their data synchronized.
According to Bashir Ahmad Khan, the Director of FCS&CA Kashmir, who was speaking with Rising Kashmir, more than 75% of the Aadhar EKYC procedures have been finished thus far. Employees of the department are making door-to-door visits to speed up the EKYC completion process, he stated.
Khan stressed the significance of adhering to the EKYC mission and threatened severe action against the usage of fictitious ration cards.
The deadline for finishing the EKYC procedure is February 29, 2024, according to the official notice. Ration cards will automatically be deleted if EKYC information is not updated by this date, which will restrict access to necessary supplies.

The Director urged the people to take immediate action to update their EKYC information to prevent disruptions in accessing ration supplies. For further assistance, the people can contact the relevant authorities designated for EKYC updates, he said.

This announcement aims to streamline the ration distribution system and minimize inconvenience for residents in Kashmir and beyond, the Director said.
