Extension of Winter Vacations Announced For J&K Schools

The Directorate of School Education, Jammu & Kashmir has extended ongoing winter vacations for schools in the Jammu Division.

As per Order No. 30 DSEJ of 2024 issued by the Director of School Education, Jammu on January 14, 2024, winter vacations which were scheduled to end on January 15 have now been extended till Jan 17, 2024.

Extension of Winter Vacations Announced For J&K Schools

The extension is applicable only for students up to Class 8 in all government and private recognized schools in the Jammu division. For classes 9 onwards, schools will reopen as per the regular schedule from January 15, 2024.

During the period of extension, the timing of schools will be from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The order states that the decision has been taken in continuation of a previous order dated January 4, 2024 which had announced the initial winter vacation schedule.

The Directorate has informed all concerned officials in Jammu division including District Development Commissioners, Chief Education Officers and Joint Directors of School Education. They have been instructed to disseminate this information and take necessary action.

The extension comes as a relief for younger students as the cold wave continues in Jammu. Parents have welcomed the decision which will allow children to stay indoors during the extreme weather conditions.
